- 1 lb Ground Turkey
- 1 Tbsp Chili Powder
- 2 tsp Black Pepper
- 1 Tbsp Garlic Salt
- 1 tsp Cumin
- 1/4 tsp Cayenne Pepper (can skip this if you don’t like heat)
- 1 chopped onion or 1 Tbsp onion powder
- 1 46oz can tomato juice
- 1 can corn
- 1 can black beans
- 2 cans of chili, white or kidney beans
- 1 can ro-tel
- Shredded cheese
- Tortilla Chips
- Sour Cream
Brown turkey in a pan with seasonings and sautee onion. Add all canned ingredients without draining. Simmer until ready to eat. Top with shredded cheese to serve with tortilla chips.
Notes:
Since the meat is cooked prior to going into the crock pot, you’re just warming up this chili. Keep the crock pot on a low simmer so that the beans don’t split. If you’re short on time you can make this on the stove top in a pot. Cook the meat in your stock pot and then dump all the ingredients in and reduce your heat.
People don’t notice that this isn’t ground beef. I actually won a chili cook off at a friend’s house one night with this recipe and no one knew it was turkey! Part of the success with this recipe is seasoning the ground turkey rather than just browning it and dumping the seasoning into the crock pot. Season the meat first!
